The United States claimed gold in both women’s football and men’s basketball, while Great Britain and Northern Ireland secured medals in artistic swimming, athletics, diving, and taekwondo on day 15 of the Paris Olympics.
GB’s Medal Milestones:
– Artistic Swimming: Kate Shortman and Izzy Thorpe made history by winning GB’s first-ever medal in artistic swimming, earning silver with a stunning free routine in the duet category.
– Diving: Noah Williams added to his personal tally by winning bronze in the men’s 10m platform diving final, marking his second medal of the Games.
– Taekwondo: Caden Cunningham came close to making history as the first British man to win Olympic taekwondo gold but settled for silver in the +80kg category.
– Athletics: Georgia Bell set a new British record in the 1500m, securing bronze, while both the men’s and women’s 4x400m relay teams also captured bronze medals on the final night of track and field events.
With 63 medals so far—just one shy of their Tokyo 2020 total—Team GB sits sixth in the medal table, with 14 golds, 22 silvers, and 27 bronzes. A strong finish on the final day could see them surpass the record 67 medals won at Rio 2016.
