Norwich City Sign Emiliano Marcondes on One-Year Deal

Norwich City have secured the signing of former Brentford and Bournemouth forward Emiliano Marcondes on a one-year contract, with the option to extend for another year. The 29-year-old Dane was a free agent after departing Bournemouth in the summer, following a loan spell with Scottish side Hibernian.

The Canaries, dealing with injuries to key players like Ashley Barnes, Onel Hernandez, and Christian Fassnacht, were in need of reinforcements, and head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup believes Marcondes brings versatility and depth to their squad.

“He gives us other options up front,” Thorup told BBC Radio Norfolk. “He can play as a 9, a 10, and even a bit on the left side. He has great intensity, is a good pressing player, and loves being involved in the game. He’s a player who wants to be on the ball and find good positions in the box to score goals.”

Marcondes first made his mark in English football with Brentford, joining them in 2018. He played a pivotal role in their promotion to the Premier League in 2021, scoring in the 2-0 Championship play-off final victory over Swansea City.

He moved to Bournemouth after his contract with Brentford expired, but struggled for game time, managing just 24 appearances and scoring seven goals across three seasons. Now at Norwich, Marcondes will look to reignite his career and make an impact in the Championship.
