Wrexham Signs Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Matty James on Short-Term Deals

Wrexham has bolstered their squad by signing free agents Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Matty James on short-term contracts until January. The addition of Bodvarsson, a 32-year-old striker with 64 caps for Iceland, aims to provide much-needed attacking options due to injuries affecting key players like Jack Marriott and Steven Fletcher. Bodvarsson has been a free agent since leaving Bolton Wanderers, Wrexham’s League One rivals, this summer.

Meanwhile, 33-year-old midfielder Matty James has also been on the lookout for a new club after departing Bristol City last July, where he made over 100 appearances since joining from Leicester City in 2021.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson expressed the necessity of these signings, stating, “With injuries to George Evans, Jack Marriott, and Steven Fletcher, it was important to bring them in, and we look forward to working with the two of them.”

As of now, Wrexham has not confirmed whether Bodvarsson and James will be registered in time to join the squad for their upcoming league match against Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
