Wigan Athletic Signs Former Newcastle Defender Paul Dummett

League One club Wigan Athletic has added experienced defender Paul Dummett to their ranks on a short-term contract lasting until early January. The 33-year-old joins Wigan after departing Newcastle United at the end of last season, bringing with him a wealth of experience from 14 years at St James’ Park. Dummett, who rose through Newcastle’s youth system, made 213 appearances for the Magpies, including 151 in the Premier League.

Expressing his excitement about joining Wigan, Dummett said, “Signing for Wigan Athletic is something I’m delighted to do. It’s a club with rich history and a brilliant, young squad that I can hopefully help progress up the league during my time here.”

With his defensive experience, Dummett is expected to provide valuable support and leadership as Wigan aims to climb the League One table.
