Argentine football legend Lionel Messi has been named Major League Soccer’s Most Valuable Player for the 2023 season. Despite limited appearances due to injuries, Messi made a significant impact, leading Inter Miami to a record regular season points tally. He recorded 36 goal contributions, scoring 20 goals and providing 16 assists.

Messi’s performance earned him 38.43% of the MVP vote, surpassing Columbus Crew’s Cucho Hernandez, who received 33.7%. This prestigious award, officially known as the Landon Donovan MLS MVP, recognizes exceptional players and has previously been awarded to stars like Donovan, Robbie Keane, and David Villa.
