Carlos Alcaraz Advances to China Open Final with Victory Over Daniil Medvedev

Carlos Alcaraz powered through to the China Open final, defeating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets. The world number three secured the win in just 88 minutes with a 7-5, 6-3 victory, marking his eighth consecutive win since a surprise second-round exit at the US Open.

The four-time Grand Slam champion will now face either world number one and defending champion Jannik Sinner or Chinese wildcard Bu Yunchaokete for the title.

In a tightly contested first set, both players struggled to hold serve, leading to four consecutive breaks and a 4-4 tie. However, Alcaraz broke Medvedev again in the 10th game and held his serve to clinch the set in 48 minutes.

Medvedev, battling a left leg issue, required two medical timeouts, allowing Alcaraz to dominate the second set. Alcaraz sealed the match on his fourth match point, capitalizing on his opponent’s injury struggles.

Reflecting on the match, Alcaraz admitted, “It was a little bit unusual, with serve being broken many times in the first set. I probably lost focus a little bit, but I’m happy I recovered quickly and played good tennis at the end.”
