Joel Embiid Ejected in 76ers’ Win Over Spurs
Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid was ejected during his team’s narrow 111-106 victory against the San Antonio Spurs after a heated exchange with referee Jenna Schroeder.
The incident occurred late in the first half when Embiid charged Victor Wembanyama, sending the Spurs’ rookie to the floor. Schroeder called a foul on Embiid, marking his third of the game. The 76ers’ center reacted angrily, removing his protective face mask and confronting Schroeder. Despite being restrained, his continued protests led to two technical fouls and his subsequent ejection.
Interestingly, earlier in the game, Schroeder’s ejection of Philadelphia’s Andre Drummond for two technical fouls during a challenge on Wembanyama was overturned.
“It was a wild first half,” remarked 76ers coach Nick Nurse, summing up the dramatic opening period.
Standout Performances
Despite Embiid’s absence, Tyrese Maxey shone for the 76ers, delivering a stellar performance with 32 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists to lead his team to victory. Meanwhile, Spurs’ rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama impressed with 26 points, nine rebounds, and a remarkable eight blocked shots.
