Primoz Roglic has claimed his record-equalling fourth consecutive Vuelta a Espana title after completing the final stage, an individual time trial, in a commanding fashion. The 34-year-old Slovenian now matches the legendary Roberto Heras, who secured four titles between 2000 and 2005.

Heading into stage 21, Roglic held a comfortable lead of two minutes and two seconds over his closest rival, Ben O’Connor of Decathlon-AG2R-La Mondiale. Despite the pressure, Roglic remained steadfast, completing the 26.4km time trial in a strong second place with a time of 26 minutes and 59 seconds. This secured his overall victory with a total race time of 81 hours, 49 minutes, and 18 seconds.

Reflecting on his victory, Roglic expressed his gratitude and determination: “I had to go for it. At the end, it was hard, but we all sacrifice and live for this moment. I’m happy I could do it, and I appreciate everyone’s efforts.”

The final stage was won by Switzerland’s Stefan Kung, who clocked an impressive 26 minutes and 28 seconds, claiming his first-ever Grand Tour stage win. Italian rider Mattia Cattaneo secured third place with a time of 26:70, just behind Kung. Kung remarked on his win, saying, “It’s always great to win with a significant margin. It shows the hard work and teamwork paid off.”

In the overall standings, Danish rider Mattias Skjelmose moved up to fifth after a solid eighth-place finish on the final stage, pushing France’s David Gaudu to sixth. Roglic’s consistent performances throughout the race, particularly his stage 19 victory that saw him take the overall lead, reaffirmed his dominance in the Vuelta a Espana, adding another prestigious title to his storied career.
