Bukayo Saka Injured During England’s Defeat to Greece

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka suffered a right leg injury during England’s 2-1 loss to Greece at Wembley on Thursday. The forward was substituted in the 51st minute after struggling with discomfort in his leg, eventually being replaced by Chelsea winger Noni Madueke.

Saka, 23, was seen stretching and clutching the back of his right leg before sitting on the turf, moments after Greece took the lead through Vangelis Pavlidis. England’s interim head coach, Lee Carsley, confirmed that Saka is being assessed, stating, “You can see he felt something in his leg in the build-up to the first goal.”

The Three Lions were already missing key players Harry Kane and Jack Grealish, both sidelined with injuries but expected to return for England’s next match against Finland on Sunday.

Saka’s injury is a fresh concern for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, whose squad is already dealing with the absence of captain Martin Odegaard. The midfielder suffered an ankle injury while playing for Norway in September. Arsenal will resume Premier League action on 19 October with a fixture against Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium.
